AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem Mine Commemorates Menstrual Hygiene Day 2025 with Community Outreach
In observance of Menstrual Hygiene Day 2025, AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem Mine organized a durbar under the global theme, “Together for a Period-Friendly World,” aimed at promoting menstrual health awareness and supporting young girls in its host communities.
The event brought together dignitaries, including the Queen Mother of the Apinto Divisional Council, Nana Abena Boaduwaa II, queen mothers from the mine's catchment areas, the Municipal Health Director, the Municipal Education Director, teachers, and guests.
As part of the program, AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem Mine, through its commitment to sustainable mining and personal development, donated sanitary pads to female students from schools within its operational areas. This annual initiative aims to support teenage girls and vulnerable women who face challenges in accessing menstrual hygiene products, thereby enabling them to manage their menstrual cycles with dignity.
The durbar featured educational sessions on menstrual hygiene management, emphasizing the importance of breaking the stigma associated with menstruation and ensuring that no girl misses school due to a lack of access to sanitary products.
