Gold Fields Ghana Foundation delivers lifeline to Brahabebom community with new water system

Children arrived late at school, parents struggled with daily activities.  Then came hope from the Gold Fields Ghana foundation where mechanized borehole was drilled to serve the community. However, its accessibility was convenient to a half of the community. 

Now, the Brahabebom community celebrates a new beginning after receiving an additional 40, 000 liter water storage system, 2 mechanized boreholes and four standpipes from the Goldfields Ghana Foundation to serve the remaining portion of the community who walk down the hills to access water.The project is expected to provide residents with a reliable source of safe drinking water and help reduce the difficulties community members face in obtaining water for domestic use.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, the project Manager for Gold Fields Ghana Foundation, Sandra Deladem Woanyah said the initiative formed part of the Foundation's commitment to supporting sustainable development in communities within its operational areas. She noted that improved access to clean water was essential to public health, sanitation and the general well-being of residents.

She urged community members and all stakeholders to give necessary support in ensuring sustainability and good management of the project as the WATSAN team would see to its overall supervision. 

The handover forms part of Gold Fields Ghana Foundation's broader social investment programmes, which focus on improving education, healthcare, water and sanitation, agriculture and other essential services in host communities.

This is not only a source of water. It is a source of health, education, dignity, and opportunity for the Brahabebom community.
