Iran now possesses over 400kg of uranium enriched to 60% purity
A recent report by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reveals that Iran has amassed approximately 408.6 kilograms of uranium enriched to 60% purity—a significant increase of nearly 50% since February 2025. This quantity, if further enriched to 90% weapons-grade, is sufficient for about ten nuclear weapons.

Iran stands as the only non-nuclear-armed nation producing uranium at such high enrichment levels, a fact that has intensified international scrutiny. The IAEA expressed serious concern over this development, noting that 60% enrichment has no civilian application and is a short technical step away from weapons-grade material.
The report also highlighted Iran's lack of cooperation in addressing uranium traces found at undeclared sites, suggesting past secret nuclear activities. These findings have prompted discussions among Western powers about potential actions, including reimposing sanctions or referring Iran to the UN Security Council.
Iran maintains that its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes, citing a religious decree against nuclear weapons. However, the international community remains concerned about the implications of Iran's enriched uranium stockpile and its potential to destabilize regional and global security.
