The new facility, constructed at a cost of GH¢673,000, promises to alleviate chronic overcrowding and inadequate space that have long plagued the school. It is expected to comfortably accommodate at least 120 pupils, transforming the learning environment.Speaking at the official handover ceremony, Frank Denkyi, Relieving Operations Manager of Abosso Goldfields Limited (AGL), emphasized that the project underscores Gold Fields' deep commitment to enhancing access to quality education within its host communities.

“Education is the cornerstone of development,” Mr. Denkyi declared. “At Gold Fields, we believe that quality education is not just a fundamental human right but a powerful driver of socio-economic transformation.”

He highlighted that the Bompieso project forms part of the Foundation's comprehensive social investment strategy, active since 2004, which prioritizes inclusive and equitable education. The new block joins a growing list of educational infrastructure projects delivered by the Foundation in communities including Subri, Koduakrom, Damang, Nyamebekyere, Kyekyewere, Huni Valley, Amoanda, and Abosso.

Mr. Denkyi issued a strong appeal for the facility's upkeep: “Education is a collective responsibility, and together we can build a brighter future for our children. We urge the Ghana Education Service and the community to ensure its proper maintenance for the benefit of current and future generations.”The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Prestea Huni-Valley, Matthew Ayeh, warmly commended the Gold Fields Ghana Foundation for its sustained dedication to improving educational infrastructure. He described the new facility as a “bold investment in the future of the children.”

Mr. Ayeh assured the Foundation of the Assembly's commitment to strengthening collaboration to further uplift living standards across the municipality. Echoing the call for maintenance, he urged the Municipal Education Directorate, traditional leaders, and community members to safeguard the investment. He also encouraged pupils to leverage the improved environment to excel academically.

Emmanuel Essuman, the Municipal Director of Education, added his voice to the appreciation, praising the Foundation for its "unwavering support." “Together, we are shaping a future where every child in the Prestea Huni-Valley Municipality has access to quality education,” Mr. Essuman stated.

The immediate impact of the new block was underscored by Joseph Mensah, Headteacher of Bompieso M/A Basic School. He detailed the school's previous struggles: “Until today, Bompieso M/A was a double-stream school from KG through to Primary, but when it got to JHS, we were compelled to operate a single stream not because of lack of students, but because of limited classrooms.”

Mr. Mensah expressed profound relief, stating the facility would not only provide a conducive learning atmosphere but also resolve critical staffing issues: “With this block, we can now split the combined classes and request the full complement of seven teachers instead of the current five. With Gold Fields Ghana Foundation, the problem is solved.”Nana Atta Brempong II, Chief of Bompieso, also lauded the Foundation for its transformative support and the numerous projects it has implemented within the town. The commissioning ceremony marked a significant step towards addressing educational bottlenecks and fostering better learning outcomes for the children of Bompieso.
