A Gift of Hope: Tarkwa Nsuaem NDC Invests in the Future of its Young Scholars
The air in Tarkwa Nsuaem was thick with promise and pride as over 200 young students, on the cusp of a great academic adventure, received a vital boost for their journey.
The Executive Committee of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the constituency, in a heartfelt ceremony, presented educational support to bright graduates of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
These students, all children of dedicated branch executives, were the beneficiaries of a significant investment made by the constituency leadership, totalling 230,000 Ghana Cedis. Rather than distributing physical items like trunks, chop boxes, and mattresses, the committee provided a cash package to each family, offering flexibility and relieving a significant financial burden at a critical time.Addressing the gathering, the Constituency Chairman, Danladi Salifu, offered fatherly advice to the young scholars. “You are going into a different world,” he said, explaining the transition from basic school to the new conditions and environment of secondary school. He urged them to be mindful of their actions, as their performance would reflect on the entire Tarkwa Nsuaem community.
“My advice to them is to go and learn hard,” Chairman Salifu stated. “When they learn hard, the results will prepare the executive to make sure that we will award them or reward them in the future.”
He framed the initiative as a reward for the hardworking branch executive members whose efforts led to a historic electoral victory for the NDC in the constituency. “We are the party people,” he emphasized. “We organised and ensured that we reward our party folks. This money came from the Tarkwa Nsuaem NDC constituency executives and not government money… We are interested in our party.”
The Chairman also called for unity and continued support from the party’s rank and file, declaring, “Together, we shall strengthen the base of our dear party through support, mentorship, and capacity. No one will be left out!”
The excitement among the students was palpable. Many expressed profound gratitude for the gesture, which arrived at the perfect moment, easing the anxieties of the costly transition to senior high school and filling them with renewed determination to excel. In this act of communal support, the Tarkwa Nsuaem NDC did more than just disburse funds; they planted a seed of confidence, reinforcing the message that education is a shared priority and the youth are the most valuable investment of all.
