UMaT Mourns Sudden Death of Third-Year Student Davis Frimpong-Manso

The University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), Tarkwa, has announced the tragic passing of Davis Frimpong-Manso, a third-year Logistics and Transport Management student, who collapsed at his hostel premises on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, and was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

According to a press release issued by the University Relations Office on April 11, Frimpong-Manso slumped in the early hours of Wednesday and was rushed to Tarkwa Municipal Hospital, where medical personnel confirmed his demise. The university has since notified his family, and his body has been released to them for burial preparations.

 

UMaT Management expressed profound grief over the incident, stating, “We mourn the tragic loss of Mr. Davis Frimpong-Manso and extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and the entire university community.” The institution urged the public to avoid speculation regarding the cause of death, emphasizing respect for the bereaved family’s privacy.  

The statement further cautioned against disseminating unverified claims, stressing the need for sensitivity during the mourning period. No official cause of death has been disclosed.  

Frimpong-Manso’s death has sent shockwaves through the UMaT community, with the university pledging support to those affected.
