Gold Fields Tarkwa Mine hosts over 300 suppliers in its 3rd Suppliers Conference
The two-day conference, running from October 28 to 29 at the Akoon Clubhouse at the Tarkwa Mine, was held under the theme: “Partnership for Enduring Value: Building a Resilient Supply Chain Beyond Mining.”
Speaking at the conference, the Manager for supply chain, Mr. Joshua Donkor shared that the gathering provides a platform for Gold Fields Ghana and its suppliers to exchange ideas, explore innovative business solutions and identify opportunities for mutually beneficial partnerships. Elaborating on the theme, Mr. Donkor shared that the company has been able to trade about 4.26billion US dollars within the local community from 2020 to date. Discussions were also centred on strengthening supply chain systems and creating lasting value for businesses. He urged for more suppliers engagement, especially women in the mining industry. He cited few examples of beneficiaries including Western Transport Service and Zen Petroleum.
The initiative underscores the importance of diversifying business opportunities beyond mining, while encouraging suppliers to build resilient enterprises capable of contributing to broader economic growth.
