22year old arrested over murder of 46-year-old woman at Tarkwa

According to the police, preliminary investigations indicate that the incident occurred on Monday, October 26, 2026.
The police report says the suspect had complained of illness and visited a hospital for treatment at about 12:30 p.m. before returning home.

The suspect is also alleged to have expressed dissatisfaction with his father, claiming he had not received the same level of care and support as his other siblings. Preliminary investigations further suggest that the suspect attacked the deceased, who was reportedly the only person remaining in the house at the time, in her room with a wooden plank, striking her on the head before allegedly strangling her.

The woman subsequently died. Her body has since been conveyed to the Tarkwa Government Hospital Mortuary for preservation and autopsy as investigations continue. In a statement signed by the Head of the Public Affairs Unit of the Western Central Regional Police Command, Assistant Superintendent of Police Beatrice Turkson, the Command assured the public of its commitment to expediting investigations into the case.

The police say anyone found culpable will be dealt with in accordance with the law. The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.
