As part of the 2025 World Menstrual Hygiene Day commemorations, the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal Office of the Centre for National Culture (CNC), with support from local individuals, donated sanitary pads to female students of the Presbyterian School in Tarkwa.

The presentation, held at the school premises, aimed to promote menstrual health awareness and support young girls in managing their periods with dignity.Speaking to the media, Municipal Officer of the CNC, Mr. Samuel Kwasi Asare, emphasized the importance of menstrual hygiene in the overall well-being and academic performance of young girls. He noted that many girls face challenges during their menstrual cycles, which can lead to absenteeism and a decline in academic performance.

"Menstrual hygiene is a critical aspect of adolescent health that is often overlooked. By providing these sanitary pads, we aim to alleviate some of the challenges our young girls face and ensure they can attend school comfortably and confidently during their periods," Mr. Asare stated.

He further called on other organisations and individuals to support initiatives that promote menstrual health and education, emphasising that collective efforts are crucial in breaking the stigma associated with menstruation.World Menstrual Hygiene Day, observed annually on May 28, aims to raise awareness about the importance of good menstrual hygiene management and to challenge the taboos and stigma surrounding menstruation.

This initiative by the CNC Tarkwa-Nsuaem office highlights the organisation's dedication to fostering cultural and social well-being within the community.
