Mr. Issah Salifu Taylor has donated two heavy duty transformers to the two communities in the Benso Electoral Area, replacing the damaged units that had left residents in an agonizing weeks-long blackout. A 200KV transformer now serves Amantin, while Yayaho received a 100KV unit. A lifeline delivered not through bureaucratic delays, but through the MP’s personal commitment and resources.

The handover ceremony drew a gathering of constituency executives led by Chairman Danladi Salifu, alongside branch executives and coordinators, all witnessing a moment that residents described as “a rescue from the dark.”

What made the donation particularly remarkable was the urgency behind it. Faced with a shortage of transformers at the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) in the region, Mr. Taylor bypassed the waiting list entirely. He purchased the units from a private supplier, fully funding the acquisition himself to ensure his constituents would not suffer a moment longer than necessary.

“Electricity is not a privilege; it is a necessity,” the MP said during the handover. “When ECG could not supply these transformers due to the shortage, I knew I could not wait. My people deserve light, and I will move heaven and earth to make sure they get it.”

For the residents of Amantin and Yayaho, the weeks without power had been more than an inconvenience. Refrigerators stood empty, small businesses ground to a halt, and children struggled to study by candlelight. The silence of dead transformers had echoed through daily life, stealing both comfort and opportunity.

Chairman Danladi Salifu praised the MP’s proactive leadership, noting that the gesture reflects a consistent pattern of responsiveness. “This is what visionary leadership looks like,” he said. “When the system faces challenges, Hon. Taylor steps in. He doesn’t pass the buck; he passes solutions.”

The donation forms part of a broader commitment by the Tarkwa-Nsuaem legislator to ensure equitable access to electricity across his constituency. From the bustling towns to the most remote farming communities. By acting decisively and personally funding the transformers, he has set a powerful example of representation that places people above process.

As evening fell over Benso , the glow returning to Amantin and Yayaho told a story that needed no elaboration: in Tarkwa-Nsuaem, their Member of Parliament listens, acts, and delivers.
